  1. I was suroised when the elderly man that looked black was really latiano. this relates to the movie by saying in simple terms that not everyone is what they seem to be.

you cant tell what race they are by just looking at them and everyone is the same.

  6. We were very surprised that we got most wrong. In fact, we got more right when we completly guessed than when we tried hard. This shows that you can't tell someones "race" just by how they look.

it really surprised us that we got more then 80% wrong because some of the people that we though for sure in the right category were comepletly diffrent, and their features really ended up messing us up. This ties into the film and shows that you can't judge a person by their looks and that their features dont show what culture their from.

We were surprised that some people did not look like the race we suspected them to be. We judged based on skin color. This ties to the film we are watching in class because we can't make assumptions based on skin color and looks.

We were surprized by the way the people classified themselves. We thought grouping people and limiting them to a certain group is wrong.

  10. It was very surprising of who was what race and to what they look like. I think this ties up with the movie becsuse of way the peoples skin looked like you really couldnt tell.

  12. ~We were suprised that we got so many wrong. We thought it was hard because everyone looks different and there is no specific way to look in one race.
~This ties into the film we are watching in class because it talkes about not being able to tell someone's race by their genetics and we couldn't even tell what race they were by looking at them.

Some of those people wern't what we thought they were. Some of those were really confusing. WE also thought that some people were mixed which were the hardest people to classify.

The look of someone does not mean what race they are. We were really suprised because we only got five right. I guess you should not judge people by how they look.

  15. It surprised us about how the color of their skin did not match their race. It tied into the movie because we were looking at people and sorting them just like the game except youcannot tell unless you have their dna

We found this game really hard and we only got a fourth of the people in the right category. THis ties to the film because it proves that you can't classify someones race just by looking at them. Something that really surprised us was the old man with the grey hair and african-american nose.

  17. How it surprised us was how people looked way different from their actual cultures.it relates to the video is they exactly described that we were putting people in catagories like people in the old days and now.

We felt personally as we were taking the quiz, it was challenging to sort people into groups based upon appearance. We felt guilty for steoryotyping people. It reflected the movie because they talked about how lots of people are closer in DNA to people not of their "race"

  19. I didn't do so great, which is what suprised me. It ties in to what we are doing in class by showing that race is not just about skin color.

  20. i think that it is weird that the people that were asian and hispanic look alike. this shows that in the video they also look alike and are still different. Jordon Ey And self

  21. We were surprised at how many we got wrong. It really shows that it is hard to classify different kinds of people by appearance. It reflected the video because it talked about race and how it can differ in many ways from DNA.

  23. We think that it was very suprizing how the people were classified. We didn't think that their looks prtrayed their race. The activity tied in to the film by talking about how race is not in your DNA, but is a cultural invention and is sometimes hard to tell what race someone is just by lookig at them.

  24. This activity was very difficult. The movie relates to this because you can't tell someone's race by looking at them. It surprised us when we only got 5 right...

We thought that you can not tell someones race by just by looking at them!We found it very difficult to match some people and identify someones race.

  26. It suprised us by how many people that looked like a certain race were in the wrong catagory and we didn't get alot right because of how they looked. This ties in with the movie because it talks about how you can't judge a race by how they look.

  27. I realised that u deffinetly can't classify ppl by the race because i only got 4 right, it relates to the video becasue u can't group them by just looking at them.

  28. it was hard becuase some people had tans and we put them down as black. it ties in the film because people in the film didnt think they were close to people with a different skin color.

  29. What really surprised us was how wrong our answers were. We didn't realize that when we classify people as certain races, we need to look at certain principles to insure accuracy. We think that this ties in to the movie because we cannot just look at people and know what race they are. If we do that, similar to the activity, we will probably be wrong.

  32. we were quite surprized because so many people looked like they'd be in one group when they were in a compleatly diffrent group of people. This compares to the movie because some people can not just be labeled by apperence.

We were suprised at how hard it is to put people in their correct "race" or categorey. It relates to the video because the video tells you can't just put say someone is a certain "race" by the color of their skin, and culture.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What surprised me about this was that many of the poeple did not look like what their race was. This ties into the video beacuse both the video and the website showed that you shouldn't just assume some is a certain race based on the color of their skin.

There was a lady who was really pale but identified herself as black, but we said she was white. In other words, we were surprised that people identify themselves as races that other people would never think of them as. This ties in with the movie we are watching by showing that you can't guess a person's race by looking at them, or, you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. We think we (as a society) do this too much.

It suprised us that people classified themselves as something they didn't look like. Also it surpirised us when people classified themselves as something they were not. This ties into the video because both said people can't be classified by looks.

  38. I was surprised how different the views of what we assumed what race people were in was compared to what the U.S goverment said race was. Like the video it shows us that we can't assume what race people are by color of skin or any other traits people have.

    ReplyDelete
  39. we think it tied to the film beacuse in bothh the film and the game it shows that theres is no definite lines on what defines a certain race

  43. We dont think that race can be dirtimened by the way someone looks, or their color, consdiering the fact that we only got 5 correct! This really goes well with the film because it just prooves the fact that people are judged too easliy by how they look.

    ~Hannah Hickle and Ruth Lamoureux

  44. It surprised us because we would be absolutely sure that the person looks a certain race but when he/she goes to a group that we thought they wouldn't be in it really surprised us. It's the same as the movie because the movie said that you can't know if someones a certain race by looking at their faces.

  45. I agree with Evvy and Rachel M. about how people classified themselves as something WE didn't see them as. But, that is the point I think, that we have these bias opinions of what people of certain "races" should look like.
